The China Association of Environmental Protection Industry nominated and voted for GreenNovo in the 2018 Key Practical Technology and Demonstration Project of Environmental Protection recently. GreenNovo’s “recycling and clean utilization technology of steel dust and non-ferrous metal smelting slag” was listed in the “2018 Key Practical Technology of Environmental Protection Catalog” and its “recycling and comprehensive utilization of 700,000t/a steel dust and non-ferrous metal smelting slag project” was listed in the “2018 Key Practical Technology Demonstration Project of Environmental Protection Catalog”, and was the only demonstration program in solid waste treatment listed in the catalog in the Western China.
GreenNovo’s technology and projects are both listed in the catalog, which fully represents that the association and professionals think highly of its technological innovation and application. Its proprietary technology “recycling and clean utilization technology of steel dust and non-ferrous metal smelting slag” processes steel dust and non-ferrous metal smelting slag and extracts valuable elements like zinc, lead, germanium, bismuth, tin, indium, iron from solid and other hazardous waste by adopting oxygen enrichment and hydrometallurgical separation and conducts unconventional treatment of the waste water to recover iodine and industrial salt. The waste water then will be recycled back to production as a closed cycle. The waste heat will be used to generate power and the harmless tailings for producing environmentally-friendly construction materials. No waste water or slag discharge proves that it exploits the waste to the fullest extent and makes a great contribution to the environmental protection process.
Gejiu, the “tin capital”, is the old industrial base for non-ferrous metal and birthplace of Yunnan’s industrial civilization. However, due to the unregulated exploitation of the non-ferrous metals in the past and the establishment of small-sized mineral dressing plants, smelting factories and chemical enterprises, heavy metal content exceeds standards in some areas, thus heavy-metal solid and hazardous waste stockpiling has posed great challenges to the environment. Located in Gejiu, GreenNovo’s “recycling and comprehensive utilization of steel dust and non-ferrous metal smelting slag project” is a demonstration project to utilize new recycling and clean utilization technology to process 700 thousand tons of heavy-metal-containing solid and hazardous waste every year. The application of the technology successfully addresses the pressing issues during the treatment, extensively recovers the valuable metals from the solid and hazardous waste and makes use of the waste water produced in the process, contributing greatly to tackling the heavy metal pollution in Gejiu.
To support the targeted poverty alleviation policy, GreenNovo has built an “intelligent industry-based production of zinc-aluminum alloy through recycling solid waste” in state-level impoverished Yuanyang county following the philosophy of “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” and extended the industrial chain of “recycling and comprehensive utilization of steel dust and non-ferrous metal smelting slag project”.
